Chapter 4: Wendy's office

Well, lunch had been good, but there was a 2:00 meeting and Wendy had to try to decide whether she should try to call Bob now, it was 1:00 and the repairman had probably been by the house and she would feel alot more at ease, but if for some reason the repairman hadn't been there it might arouse Bob's paranoia. Well, she would just wait and call after the meeting. She knew that she had to find some way to trust Bob, there was no way their marriage could survive if she couldn't trust him. And there had been no trouble since he started taking the new medication. Still, she couldn't seem to go more than five minutes without worrying about Bob, and her work was starting to suffer, and the 2:00 meeting was very important and she needed to be able to devote all of her attention to it. What should she do. She would call him, no, wait, she would call him at 1:45, right before the meeting. That way it would give the repairman an extra 45, well 40 now, minutes to get there, and she could still go into the meeting without having to worry about Bob. 1:05 what could she do for forty minutes. Well, she could go to her office and try to get prepared for the meeting, a task that would usually take her 10 minutes or less, but would probably take much longer since she was so distracted, or she could try to figure out the best way to find out what transpired between Bob and the repairman without arousing his suspicions. She knew that what everybody else considered strange and worth commenting on, Bob considered part of a conspiracy that should not be uttered until he knew exactly what was going on and who he could trust. How could she get him to tell her exactly what went on without making him feel like she was interrogating him? She knew one person she could call who would help her calm down, and know exactly what she was going through - Bob's mom. She felt really blessed to be so close to her in-laws. Her own parents had died when she was young, and it felt good to have a "family" again, even if it was through marriage, and since Bob had mental....... problems, from a young age, his mom was the one person who had any kind of insight as to what was going on in Bob's mind. That's not to say she was always right about how Bob would react, but she had a higher percantile than anyone, even Wendy herself. Good, I'll call Mom, it was 1:30, well she could talk to Mom for 30 minutes and call Bob after the meeting, she knew talks with Mom never lasted under 20 minutes, and sometimes lasted over 3 hours, but if she told Mom she had a meeting, Mom would keep an eye on the clock.
