Chapter 5: Bob hits the road
Great, the carpet ripped as he was trying to get out the
blood stain, now he had to think of a way to explain that to Wendy. Hmmm....well,
it would all be academic if he didn't get the body out of the house. He
would think of a story to tell Wendy on the trip. Time to try to think
of anything else he might have missed, that is how people got caught,
by forgetting something. Let's see, he didn't have to worry about getting
the T.V. fixed, the guy had done that, he didn't even have to worry about
the guy's company because he called the office and told them he had finished
and was heading to the next place. Nice piece of luck there. Hmmmm...the
guy's car, he had to get that out of the parking lot, well, he could ditch
it in the neighborhood with the body and walk home, it was only a few
blocks away. Eww..he would have to get the guy's keys out of his pocket.
Oh well, nothing to it but to do it. Well, at least the guy was realatively
dry. Now, he had to go figure out which car this guy was in, hopefully
he had a company car or van. Time to make a trip to the parking lot. Ah
good, right there next to the door of his apartment, Big Al's T.V. repair.
Now, to get the guy into the laundry hamper, hmmm he would have to hope
no one we see him taking a hamper to a T.V. repair van and think it strange,
wait, maybe there was something in the van he could put the guy in, he
had the keys he should atleast check and see. Hmmm..lots of wires, cables
and a couple of toolboxes, a toolbox, no they weren't big enough, well,
the van was close to the door, and it was still early for people to be
home from work, he would just have to make sure no one was outside and
walk as quickly as possible. Now, to go get the guy into the laundry hamper.
After trying several different positions Bob was able to get the guy into
the hamper. Now to take him to the car. He looked out the window, the
coast was clear, maybe he should go open the side door first. as he was
going out to open the side door, he ran into his neighbor, Jim.
"What's up, Jim?" He couldn't open the side door with Jim watching. What
if Jim asked him why he was outside?
"Not alot, just taking a mental health day. What are you up to?"
Was that supposed to be an insult concerning Bob's mental problems? Hopoefully
not, let it slide, what to answer, "Just came outside to get some fresh
air, been cooped up inside the apartment too long." Go away, please.
"Well, I was just heading up to the bar, stop by if you get a chance."
"I'll try, but me and Wendy are pretty busy lately, see you later." Take
a hint and leave.
"Later"
Good, OK, wait a few minutes for Jim to turn the corner, there he goes,
anyone else around? Nope, open the side door of the van, still no one
around, go get the hamper, make sure no one else has come outside, coast
is clear, move the body to the van, close the door, whew, that's done.
Now lock up the apartment, where were his keys, he had the repairman's
keys, but where were his keys? Oh yeah, on the T.V. Lock up the apartment
and time to hit the road. hmmm. maybe he should move his car so people
wouldn't think he was home. He drove his car over to the next set of apartment
buildings and walked back. No one around, get in the van, and off we go.
