Chapter 7: A Good Facade
At least it was a good day for a walk. After that episode
at the house, Bob realized it was past time for him to take his medication,
but he had not brought it with him. Let's face it, Bob was a busy man
this afternoon. Just had to get himself in a "normal" mood before Wendy
got home, she could read him like a book. Had to figure out a way to get
back in "normal" mode. Well, his medication was new and neither he or
Wendy had really figured out exactly how it effected him. He would just
tell her he went for a little walk to relax after the repairman, that
wouldn't raise her suspicion because they had both been a little nervous
about his first "alone" meeting with the public on the new medication.
Gee, guess they had reason to be, no, this had not been Bob's fault and
anyone else would have had to handle it the same way. He was just a normal
Joe in an extraordinary situation. Whoa, his mind was wandering, back
to the subject, which was.......Oh yeah, he had gone for a walk and lost
track of time and not taking his medication. That would explain why he
was taking his medication late if Wendy got home before him as well. Bob
wondered what time it was, but he had forgotten to put his watch on before
leaving. Well, he would be home soon anyway. He looked for Wendy's car
as he got to the apartment. It was there. OK, it's normal time.... Wait,
Bob had moved his car so that he people would think he went somewhere
in the car, well it would only take a few minutes to go get it. The hard
part was that he now had to make up a new story for Wendy, surely she
had noticed that his car was not there. And, she had probably noticed
the ripped carpet by now as well. Well, the carpet he would worry about
after figuring out where to tell Wendy he had gone in the car. He could
tell her that he went out to grab a beer at a bar, but that would probably
upset her, she seemed to think that drinking affected him in an adverse
way, and she had probably noticed the empty beer bottle he had left on
the coffee table. Hmm......he would tell her he went out to grab a bite
to eat. That should work since he had not eaten anything at home, he hadn't
been very hungry for some reason and didn't think his appetite would return
very strongly tonight either so that excuse should not arouse any suspicions.
Well, there was his car, that gave him the five minute drive home to think
up an excuse for the ripped carpet..................................
